Assistant Quantity Surveyor – MEP
This role sits within our inhouse Mechanical & Electrical Subcontractor, Mace MEP, on a multi‑million pound project in Reading, where you will be based.
You will be responsible for assisting with the commercial management of MEP work packages, collaborating with package managers and reporting into the project commercial lead. Provides risk and opportunity reporting mechanisms, mitigating risks and protecting work packages and project margins through cost control systems.
You’ll Be Responsible For
* Assisting with the commercial management of subcontract packages from procurement to final account.
* Assisting with the procurement of subcontract packages and materials including collating tender documentation & administering tenders.
* Accountable for commercial package management and reporting to the commercial lead.
* Helping to establish cost control systems including administering client and subcontract changes.
* Help establish risk and opportunity reporting mechanisms.
* Help mitigate risks and protect package/project margin.
* Help to enhance profit by seeking opportunities through change and cost reduction measures such as value engineering.
* Operate and collaborate as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
You’ll Need To Have
* Proficient in MS Office tools.
* Subcontract profit and loss reporting.
* Administering monthly commercial calendar.
* Experience in establishing cost control systems.
* Leading value engineering and cost exercises.
* Preparing monthly commercial reports.
* Developed planning and organisational skills.
* Ability to communicate, collaborate & network with key stakeholders and senior leaders.
* Established problem solving skills.
* Ability to adapt and respond to change.
* Leads by example and demonstrates leadership behaviours.
* Degree in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management (or equivalent).
* CSCS.
