Position Overview:
We’re seeking an experienced and business-minded lawyer to join our legal team. This individual will be instrumental in driving legal strategy across the organization while serving as a trusted partner to senior leadership and business unit leaders. The ideal candidate is a strong generalist with expertise in consumer finance, legal acumen, exceptional writing and analytical skills, and the confidence to lead cross-functional teams through complex legal and business decisions.
How you’ll make an impact:
* Legal Strategy & Business Partnership: Support the Chief Legal Officer/General Counsel in providing strategic legal guidance. Offer practical legal solutions aligned with company goals in a fast-paced consumer financial environment.
* HR & Employment Law Support: Advise on employment matters including performance management, workplace investigations, terminations, policy development, and compliance with labor laws. Act as a legal partner to HR.
* Vendor & Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, focusing on vendor agreements, technology contracts, and service arrangements. Develop templates and negotiation standards.
* Consumer Privacy: Ensure compliance with privacy laws like GLBA, GDPR, CCPA. Provide guidance on privacy matters and support teams in managing privacy risks.
* Intellectual Property: Manage and monitor the company’s intellectual property, including trademarks and service marks.
* Cross-Functional Legal Support: Collaborate with various teams to identify legal risks and support transactions.
* Regulatory Experience: Support legal work related to regulations, interpret laws, and update policies to ensure compliance.
What you’ll need to succeed:
* Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
* At least 8 years of legal experience, with 2–3 years in-house or equivalent.
* Experience in consumer financial services or similar regulated industry.
* Experience supporting HR functions and vendor management.
* Excellent communication skills, ability to present to senior leaders.
* Knowledge of HTML and IronClad is a plus.
* Ability to work independently and lead legal projects.
