What you will be doing as an apprentice
Join as a Process Industry Manufacturing Technician Apprentice to contribute to safe and efficient production through hands-on involvement in chemical processing, quality control, and compliance with industry standards. You will work with experienced colleagues to support day-to-day operations including weighing, dispensing, and mixing activities, off-loading tankers, and maintaining accurate production records. This apprenticeship provides a foundation for a career in process manufacturing, developing practical skills in batch processing, health and safety compliance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement, with opportunities to advance within the environment.
Summary of duties
* Start on the Morning shift (5:50am to 2:00pm); after settling in, move to the Day shift (7:50am to 4:00pm); eventually the PM shift (1:50pm to 00:00) with a 4-day week on PM shift.
* Batch Processing: weigh, dispense, and mix chemicals using various equipment; off-load tankers containing hazardous and flammable products.
* Operational Standards: work to approved methods, SOPs, and GMP; maintain a clean, safe, and organized production area.
* Health, Safety & Compliance: follow HSE and HR policies and ensure activities comply with statutory and company requirements.
* Quality Assurance: perform in-process quality checks, daily audits (tank readings), and batch testing; collaborate with quality teams to resolve issues.
* Documentation & Reporting: maintain production records, manage stock levels, complete batch documentation on time, and input data into stock control systems.
* Teamwork & Communication: participate in daily briefings and Redzone activities; coordinate with planning teams and escalate concerns to the line manager when needed.
* Continuous Improvement: support site-wide initiatives to improve safety, efficiency, and product quality.
Future opportunities
Opportunity to secure a full-time position with Miswa Chemicals Ltd after the apprenticeship. The programme provides hands-on training and the potential to become a registered Science or Engineering Technician (RSci/Eng Tech). There are opportunities to specialise and progress into supervisory or leadership roles within manufacturing.

You must be 18+ and have a full UK driving licence in order to be eligible for this role due to the chemicals involved and shift patterns.
Eligibility
Minimum requirements follow UK Government apprenticeship rules. Applicants should demonstrate that the program will provide learning beyond current qualifications. If you already hold a Level 3, degree, or equivalent higher-level qualification, or possess substantial relevant experience, you may not be eligible for apprenticeship funding. You’ll need to be over 18, not in full-time education, have lived in the UK for 3 years, and have the right to work in the UK.
