Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join our dynamic and compassionate team. About Us
The Lodge at the Becton Centre is an inpatient unit that admits children and adolescents from across South Yorkshire, including Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley and Bassetlaw. The team is dedicated to providing a holistic, compassionate, and multidisciplinary approach to mental health care.
About You
* MBChB or equivalent
* Relevant specialist qualification or equivalent
* Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent, or within 6 months of gaining CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or Learning Disability
* Section 12(2) Approval
Main Duties
* Serve as Team Leader of the Lodge, working with the Lead Nurse, ward managers and Heads of Departments.
* Provide expert opinion and clinical leadership, offering senior medical advice in the management of patients within the service.
* Oversee referrals into the team, consulting with the assessing clinician or during weekly meetings.
* Ensure all patients under your care receive high‑quality psychiatric assessments, treatment and care plans.
* Support team members, fostering an environment of clinical excellence and continuous professional development.
Qualifications & Skills
* Appropriate training and experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; experience in learning disability considered essential.
* Basic management experience (e.g., trainee rotas) and clear involvement in audit/service improvement.
* Interest in research and ability to undertake clinical projects.
* Excellent communication skills with children, parents and staff.
* Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary medical and non‑medical colleagues.
* Desirable: Understanding of NHS management responsibilities of consultants, teaching qualifications or ability to teach.
