The Emergency Assessment Unit is a 27‑bedbed unit providing acute care to emergency admissions, soon to be transformed into Same Day Emergency Care and Ward 6 Short Stay units.

Responsibilities
* Assist registered nurses and other healthcare practitioners in providing high‑quality patient care.
* When trained and deemed competent, undertake clinical activities using appropriate equipment.
* Maintain patients’ privacy and dignity at all times, providing care in a compassionate and sensitive manner.
* Be an effective part of the multidisciplinary team contributing to departmental objectives.
* Continue to develop and maintain competencies in nursing tasks to maintain high quality, safe care.
* Post holder will be expected to contribute to housekeeping and other ward/department duties as required, e.g. general tidiness, replenish stock and ensure clinical equipment is clean, working and stored correctly.
* Contribute to the work of the department by working under direct or indirect supervision of registered or assistant practitioners.
Key Information
* Permanent, 24‑hour shift – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
* Location – West Cumberland Hospital, Ward 6, Emergency Assessment Unit.
* Essential criteria – Must meet the essential criteria in the attached person specification and legal requirements for sponsorship; visa sponsorship may be available for qualified candidates.
