Summer Fun Co-Director
The Town of Carlisle is seeking a talented individual for the seasonal position of Summer Fun Co-Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration and operation of a comprehensive summer day program. Duties include planning, coordinating and supervising a wide variety of activities, staff management, activity planning, and special event coordination.
The position is 40 hours per week while the program is in session, June 22-August 7. Part‑time pre‑season planning hours are necessary and flexible in winter and spring.
The Summer Fun Co-Director will work closely with the Recreation Director and a seasonal leadership team of 1 Summer Co‑Director and 2 Assistant Summer Co‑Directors.
Responsibilities
* Management and coordination of the 6-week Carlisle Recreation Summer Fun Program Ages 4-12, open Monday - Friday, 8:00am-3:00pm. (Summer Leadership Staff are expected to be at Summer Fun 8:00am-4:00pm, an 8-hour workday is expected).
* Responsible for the health, safety and welfare of all staff and participants.
* Plan, supervise and lead the daily operations of the Carlisle Summer Fun Recreation program and create a fun and creative experience for participants.
* Assist in preparing and facilitating pre-season staff trainings, including a dedicated program training.
* Assists with interviewing, hiring and evaluating Counselors and Counselors in Training.
* Works with Recreation Director to manage disciplinary action as needed. Must be able to deal with disciplinary issues amongst participants and staff appropriately.
* Prepare program lists for each week.
* Meets with Recreation Director regularly to discuss supplies, special events, and weekly theme weeks.
* Oversee the use of equipment and facilities. Reports damage to facility immediately to the Recreation Director.
* Must have CPR & First Aid Certification. (Provided by Carlisle Recreation if not already certified).
* Oversee Summer Staff including Assistant Co-Directors, Counselors and Counselors in Training.
* Oversee safe drop off and dismissal process.
* Works cooperatively with Summer Fun Co-Director to ensure a safe and fun experience for all participants.
* Implement department safety and emergency policies to maintain health, safety and welfare of all participants and staff.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Education, or related field preferred; teaching certification preferred; three years supervisory program experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements/Certifications: First Aid and CPR/AED certification by start of the summer program.
Schedule Requirements
Mandatory staff trainings June 24, 1:00‑6:00pm; CPR, First Aid, AED Training June 25, 1:00‑3:00pm. Work commitment Mon‑Fri, June 22‑August 4, 2026 (No July 3rd).
Salary and Benefits
This is a seasonal, non‑benefit position, with a starting hourly rate of $22‑$24 per hour commensurate with experience/qualifications.
