Hours of Work: Monday – Thursday 7.45am – 4.30pm & Friday 7.45am – 3.15pm
Engineering @ 365 is currently working with a well-established precision engineering manufacturer based in Dudley, recruiting for a CNC Operator / Setter / Programmer on a permanent basis.
Job Description:
As a CNC Operator / Setter / Programmer, you will be responsible for setting, operating, and programming CNC lathes (including twin spindle and multi-bar feed systems) to manufacture precision components for industrial chain products. You will play a key role in ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance with health and safety standards while supporting production targets and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up CNC machines, load materials, secure workpieces, and install tooling and fixtures.
Select and adjust cutting tools, carry out tool offsets, and verify machine setups.
Operate, set, and programme CNC lathes in line with engineering drawings and specifications.
Optimise machining processes to improve efficiency and meet production targets.
Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as required.
Inspect and measure completed parts using micrometres, Verniers, gauges, comparators, and height gauges.
Carry out in-process inspections to maintain quality standards.
Support CMM inspection activities (training provided).
Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
Work closely with supervisors and quality teams to ensure targets are met.
Provide guidance and informal training to junior operators when required.
Follow all company and statutory health & safety procedures.
Ensure compliance with ISO and internal quality standards.
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in CNC machining, ideally within turning/lathe environments.
Strong proficiency in CNC programming (G-code) and machine setting.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (essential).
Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments.
Experience with CAD/CAM software is desirable (training can be provided).
Proven track record of achieving production targets while maintaining high quality standards.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Apprenticeship, vocational training, or formal qualification in CNC machining preferred.
