Managing Director
Confidential – Technology Services & Resourcing Business based in Watford (hyrbid working model)
This is a Managing Director role for someone who has already carried real responsibility and wants to do so again, properly.
The business operates in a services-led environment spanning specialist technical resourcing, project delivery and managed services. It supports complex, mission-critical technology and network programmes for large, sophisticated clients. While well established, the organisation is entering a pivotal phase: reducing client concentration, sharpening its commercial model, and evolving its service offering.
This is not a turnaround, but it is a reset.
The role
The Managing Director will take full accountability for the performance and direction of the business. This includes P&L ownership, sales leadership, operational grip, and the development of a clear, focused strategy for the next phase of growth.
This isn’t a role where you can sit above the detail. The Managing Director will need to be hands-on, commercially minded and visible as the business evolves.
Key priorities include:
* Setting and leading a clear commercial and growth strategy
* Strengthening sales discipline and accountability, including personally engaging with key customers
* Improving margin quality, delivery confidence and cash discipline
* Reducing reliance on a small number of major clients through diversification
* Building and leading a capable, aligned management team
* Working effectively within an employee-owned structure, balancing engagement with decisive leadership
The person
This role will suit someone who has already led a services or technology-enabled business at MD, GM or equivalent level, and who understands the realities of margin, delivery risk and growth in a people-based model.
You are likely to bring:
* Proven P&L ownership within a services, resourcing, consultancy or technology environment
* Strong commercial judgement and experience making difficult trade-offs
* Direct involvement in winning, retaining and growing significant customers
* The credibility to lead senior teams and influence boards and stakeholders
* A pragmatic, grounded leadership style — visible, clear and consistent
Employee ownership experience is helpful but not essential. What matters more is emotional intelligence, commercial maturity and the ability to bring people with you while still making hard decisions.
Why this role
This is an opportunity to lead a business that matters: technically credible, trusted by major clients, and at a point where the right Managing Director can genuinely shape its future.
* It will suit someone motivated by stewardship as much as scale. Someone who wants to build something sustainable, not just chase growth for growth’s sake.
Package
The role offers a competitive base salary aligned to a mid-market Managing Director position, with a meaningful performance-related bonus linked to profitability, cash and delivery outcomes.
In addition, the Managing Director will participate in the company’s employee ownership arrangements, providing longer-term alignment and shared success.
The overall package is designed to reward commercial discipline, sustainable growth and leadership impact rather than short-term volume.
