Business Support Officer (Adolescent Response Team)


Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Kent County Council as a Business Support Officer within our Adolescent Response Team (ART), providing administrative support to assist in the smooth running of our service.

This is a full‑time vacancy for a fixed term until 31st March 2027. This role is based at Sessions House, Maidstone (ME14 1XQ) and is a countywide role. Whilst there will be a need for office working and travel to support the various meetings and functions of the team, we can offer a flexible mix of office base and home working arrangements for this role. You will be provided with a laptop and home working equipment to facilitate this flexible approach.

We are looking for someone who has an interest in Adolescent Services and is self‑motivated with a calm and organised approach, alongside excellent communication skills.

Regular duties include:

* Liaising with professionals from different agencies.
* Organising and minuting regular Complex Adolescent Harm Meetings (CAHM) and District Contextual Safeguarding Meetings (DCSM).
* Accurately recording on case‑management systems.
* Purchasing resources and processing expenses for the team.
* Organising weekly shift rotas.
* Daily mailbox monitoring (dealing with queries from partner agencies, as well as your team).
* Data analysis and tracking referrals via spreadsheets.
* Managing your diary effectively and being available throughout the day to support the team with any queries or requests.

You will be working in a fast‑paced and demanding environment, providing invaluable professional support to Adolescent Response staff across the county. Qualities we are looking for in candidates include proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams), excellent organisational skills, ability to prioritise and proactively manage your workload whilst responding to urgent requests and deadlines. Having pride in your work, strong IT and administrative skills, and an aptitude for learning are integral to this role.

The work is varied – you will be expected to deal with a wide range of issues and work collaboratively with colleagues, sharing duties as required throughout the team. The ability to produce accurate minutes which are of a highly sensitive nature and experience of finance and processing payments would be essential in the role.
