Job Title: Finance Assistant – 12 month Fixed-Term-Contract
Salary:£27,000 per annum
Location: Blackbushe, Hybrid (2 days per week office based)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Main Purpose: We’re looking for a Finance Assistant to cover a maternity leave. This role sits within the BCA Auction Finance Shared Services (FSS) Compliance team. The Finance Assistant will support the Supervisor to ensure financial control and assist with cross‑functional working within the department.
Key Responsibilities
* Verify customer bank details using payee confirmations with Bankers Almanac or HSBC.
* Make phone calls to customers to confirm bank details.
* Correspond with customers for supporting evidence when required.
* Arrange and manage micro‑payments for verification purposes.
* Add verified bank details to the finance system.
* Check the verified bank details added to AS400, ensuring segregation of duties.
* Process ServiceNow requests: update and add customer and vendor accounts, GL codes and dimensions in Navision.
* Verify and update vendor accounts, including approved vendor rates in the Auction Finance System (AS400).
* Check and validate VAT numbers via GOV.UK.
* Support DAC7 reporting (HMRC vendor reporting).
* Verify Companies House information for new vendors.
* Maintain VAT arrangements, adding them to Navision and following up with the commercial team.
* Handle ad‑hoc tasks such as answering calls and taking messages.
Knowledge and Experience Required
* Bank or Treasury Department experience is an advantage.
* Logical problem‑solving ability with a methodical and organised approach.
* Strong numeric skills, including accuracy of data input and reconciliation.
* Familiarity with sales ledger, bank reconciliations, purchase ledger, nominal ledger and reporting.
* Team player with effective communication skills (oral and written).
* Strong initiative and ability to set priorities.
* Flexible, can meet deadlines and work under pressure.
* Knowledge of Navision Accounting software is an advantage.
