An exciting opportunity to join a government body who invest and support creativity and culture across England.
A new role has arisen in the legal team for a Solicitor, on a 12-month fixed term contract, to advise on or commission external legal advice on a range of transactional matters including grants, capital projects, securities and property.
As the Solicitor for Capital Projects and Property, you will work as part of a small legal team, working closely with the Director of Legal Services as well as liaising with external firms and other fund distributing bodies. You will ensure the council complies with all relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks, identifying and managing risk. You will coordinate and manage the preparation, execution, recording, reporting and filing of legal documents, including deeds, as well as drafting and negotiating documents and materials; reflecting best practice and value for money.
To be considered for the role, you will be qualified and registered as a Solicitor in England & Wales or hold equivalent qualification as a lawyer in a comparable jurisdiction, preferably with at least 3 years post qualification experience working in private practice or in-house in a medium/ large sized organisation. Experience or training in grants, capital projects, securities and property is essential for this role, as is excellent attention to detail and good drafting and negotiation skills. Experience of contracts and subsidy control is desirable.
On offer is a salary between £48,000-£58,000 dependent on PQE. This is a full time (35 hours a week) role for 12 months and offers hybrid working, with several days a week in the office (Birmingham). Candidates should expect a varied and interesting workload as well as the opportunity to undertake further training and development. Interested candidates should be available at short notice.
