Health Care Support Worker – Govan Health Centre
We are looking for a Health Care Support Worker to provide a range of clinical and personal care interventions to patients in their homes or residential settings. You will support the District Nurse in delivering safe, effective community‑based care.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern: Full‑time, permanent. Base location – Govan Health Centre, Glasgow South. Shift Pattern – Monday to Sunday, including weekends and backshifts.
Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under Skilled Worker or Health & Care Worker visa routes. All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist District Nurses with a broad range of clinical duties.
* Monitor and support patients with long‑term conditions.
* Contribute to wound assessment, dressing changes, and ongoing wound management.
* Provide compassionate end‑of‑life care and support families.
* Promote independence to enable patients to remain at home safely.
* Deliver timely interventions to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions and support safe discharge.
Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and Experience
* SVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent experience.
* Ability to work with people and as part of a team.
* Ability to work without direct supervision.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
* A driving licence required for community travel.
* Understanding of community‑based care, long‑term condition management, wound care principles, and person‑centred support.
