Overview
Join to apply for the YOT Senior Mental Health Practitioner role at Harmonia Careers.
Job Summary: We are recruiting for a Band 6 Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) as our YJS Senior Mental Health Practitioner. The Youth Justice Service (YJS) is a multi-disciplinary team working with children and young people aged 10-17 years who have offended or are subject to community and custodial disposals. The YJS Senior Mental Health Practitioner will support these young people with time-limited interventions, aiming to reduce risk of re-offending, harm to others, and vulnerability. You may signpost or liaise with other providers and establish exit strategies to ensure ongoing support where needed. You will be co-managed by CAMHS and the YJS manager, with regular supervision and access to a wide range of professionals.
Responsibilities
* Complete initial assessments and screenings related to emotional and mental health to determine the level of support or intervention required.
* Deliver time-limited interventions to children and young people known to the YJS with emotional health and wellbeing difficulties.
* Refer to universal, early help or targeted services (or liaise with other health professionals) for onward assessment or support.
* Lead within YJS on mental health and wellbeing, providing advice, guidance and specialist knowledge to staff; support overall YJS practice and service development.
* Provide screening, care, and health promotion to YJS-identified children and young people with emotional health needs.
* Design and deliver preventive and targeted work addressing safeguarding and risk management (including 1:1 and group work).
* Maintain strong links between YJS and other services (e.g., CCAMHS, FCAMHS, EIP, GP, Social Care) for liaison and onward referral.
* Contribute to YJS performance against targets and indicators through data input, service delivery and teamwork.
