Advert Bairns Hoose Co-Ordinator (16/1343) (Fixed Term) Dumfries £44,394 - £47,604 Children and Families Social Work Services is seeking to recruit a Bairns’ Hoose Co‑ordinator to help deliver our ambition to provide children and young people with a trauma‑sensitive, rights‑based and recovery‑focused response to their care, protection, justice and recovery needs. The Bairns’ Hoose model is based on the European Barnahus approach: a child‑friendly, multi‑disciplinary and inter‑agency model supporting children who are victims or witnesses of all forms of violence. It brings together Police, Social Work, Health, Court and recovery services under one roof, ensuring children receive coordinated, compassionate and effective support. Key Responsibilities Act as a central point of coordination for children, young people and their families throughout their Bairns’ Hoose journey Work alongside children and families to help them navigate complex systems using a trauma‑informed approach Ensure children’s rights, voices and experiences are central to all aspects of service delivery Gather, analyse and evaluate feedback from children, young people and families to inform continuous improvement Support the ongoing development of the Bairns’ Hoose practice model in line with agreed objectives Facilitate meaningful participation and engagement of children, young people and families in service design and development Work collaboratively with partner agencies to maintain a coherent, child‑centred approach Essential Requirements In‑depth knowledge and understanding of best practice and regulatory requirements in child care and young people’s services Experience of outcome‑focused service planning, monitoring and evaluation Educated to SCQF Level 9 (or equivalent) Registered with a relevant professional body A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged. Advert cont This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident. Additional Information This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in shaping Scotland’s evolving Bairns’ Hoose model and ensuring children’s voices remain at its heart This post is fixed until 31 st of March 2027. This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
