The Role
This is a hands‑on CNC milling role with senior responsibility, supporting production efficiency, quality and on‑time delivery. You will work independently on precision components while also providing support to the CNC Milling Team Leader and wider team when required.
Key Responsibilities
Setting and operating CNC milling machines using Heidenhain controls
Developing, optimising and making minor edits to CNC milling programmes
Producing precision components to tight tolerances and customer specifications
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
Adjusting tooling and offsets to maintain quality standards
Completing first‑off inspections and maintaining quality throughout production
Uploading, downloading and correctly filing CNC programs
Estimating machining and milling times where required
Operating manual metal cutting machinery when necessary
Supporting workflow prioritisation and production efficiency
Assisting with training and mentoring of CNC milling team members
Ensuring health & safety standards are adhered to at all times
About You
Essential Experience:
Proven experience as a CNC Miller / CNC Setter / CNC Miller Setter Operator
Confident setting and operating CNC milling machines
Strong working knowledge of Heidenhain controls
Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings
Experience machining to tight tolerances
A precise, methodical and quality‑focused working style
Comfortable working independently in a structured environment
Desirable:
Experience with multi‑axis CNC milling machines
Experience supporting or mentoring other machinists
Programming experience at the machine or via offline CAM
HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
