The Opportunity
Join Cynergy Bank at a pivotal stage of our technology transformation. This is a Head of Digital Engineering role, reporting to the Director of Engineering, with accountability for one of the bank’s core engineering pillars. You will lead the delivery of our customer‑facing platforms and cloud‑native services, while building the capability and structure required to scale engineering effectively.
This role goes beyond delivery leadership. You will lead senior engineers, shaping how teams operate, deliver, and continuously improve. You will also act as a key engineering voice across the organisation – working closely with Product, Architecture, and senior stakeholders to ensure engineering is aligned with business priorities.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
* Leading a portfolio of digital platforms, applications, and microservices on Google Cloud
* Managing and developing engineering leaders and teams across backend, frontend, and mobile
* Owning delivery outcomes, platform performance, and engineering quality
* Driving consistency in engineering standards, practices, and ways of working
* Partnering with Product to align delivery with customer and commercial priorities
* Embedding modern DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation
* Supporting the use of AI and automation in customer journeys where appropriate
* Working closely with Architecture, Risk, and Information Security to ensure secure, compliant delivery
* Representing engineering in wider business discussions and contributing to decision‑making forums
What This Role Needs (at This Level)
* Experience leading engineering managers or team leads (not just individual contributors)
* Proven track record delivering digital platforms at scale in a cloud‑native environment
* Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders beyond engineering
* Strong delivery ownership, combined with the ability to shape how teams operate
* Experience working in regulated or complex environments
* Technical background with modern stacks (e.g. Go, Flutter, Next.js / TypeScript)
* Experience with Google Cloud Platform, CI/CD, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices
