Business.The SHE Officer will be involved in routine inspections, audits, training coordination, data gathering and reporting, and assisting in incident investigations. The role is hands-on and works closely with operational teams to maintain high SHE standards across all Spalding sites. This role also supports the development of people leaders by empowering them to take ownership of safety and environmental responsibilities within their teams.
Travel Requirements:
* Travel between Spalding and Birds Drove sites (approx. 3 miles apart).
Key Responsibilities:
* Drive Safety Excellence - Assist in developing and rolling out top-tier Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures that keep teams protected and operations compliant.
* Champion Risk Control - Review risk assessments, conduct site inspections, and ensure Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) are up to standard.
* Monitor & Report Compliance - Flag safety concerns and support corrective actions with the SHE Manager.
* Engage Stakeholders - Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners to align SHE expectations.
* Lead Audits & Inspections - Conduct safety checks, support audits, and track non-conformances, maintaining records.
* Support Training & Development - Coordinate SHE training sessions, maintain logs, and identify gaps for improvement.
* Promote Safety Awareness - Drive safety culture through toolbox talks, posters, and communication materials.
* Champion Environmental Action - Assist with environmental controls, sustainability projects, and ISO 50001 reporting, supporting recycling, waste management, and pollution prevention.
* Respond to Incidents - Investigate incidents and near-misses, ensure proper reporting and root cause analysis.
* Maintain Records & Reports - Keep SHE documentation, prepare performance reports, and ensure contractor compliance.
Experience & Skills:
* Experience in health, safety, or environmental support, ideally within food production, manufacturing, or logistics.
* Strong understanding of UK SHE legislation and practices.
* Confident communicator able to influence operational teams.
* Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable Qualifications:
* NEBOSH General Certificate or working towards it.
* ISO 45001, 14001, or 50001 experience.
* First Aid or Fire Marshal training (preferred).
* Experience supporting ISO audits or SHE management systems.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
