We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Garth, a Category B male prison in Leyland.
The prison houses around 1500 men with various health needs, and within this role, you'll play an integral part in providing exceptional care for our patients.
This role is within our Primary Care team, where you will support clinics, work with pharmacy, and respond to emergency situations — no two days are ever the same!

Salary
This position is full-time, working 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility in hours available. If you prefer fewer hours, we can consider this. The annual salary ranges from £24,669 to £28,690 FTE, depending on experience.

Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK. Offers of employment are subject to vetting and security checks due to the role's nature.
Main duties of the job
* Implement clinical care packages, perform phlebotomy, and assess, treat, and evaluate patient care
* Support the Primary Care Nursing team with all aspects of care
* Assist with clinics — bloods, vaccinations, wound care, etc.
* Act as a second checker in pharmacy as required
* Work primarily within the primary care team but may support substance misuse or mental health teams
* Support registered nurses, promote safe patient care, and develop new skills to enhance clinical service delivery

Qualifications and experience
* NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or working towards it (essential)
* NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (desirable)
* Experience in phlebotomy (highly desirable)
* Experience in clinical care, ideally in hospital or prison settings
* Clinical skills such as venipuncture and tissue viability
* Non-judgemental, compassionate approach
Additional criteria
* Must pass Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check due to the role's nature
