Join to apply for the Lead Clinical Pharmacist - Elective Orthopaedics role at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust
Are you an experienced pharmacist seeking a new challenge in an acute hospital trust? We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join our modern facilities at Colchester Hospital. You will lead clinical pharmaceutical services for elective orthopaedic patients, including within our new elective orthopaedic centre in the Dame Clare Marx Building, which features eight laminar flow theatres, three wards, recovery facilities, and support services. You will play a key role in establishing and developing this new service.
Our friendly pharmacy team is committed to nurturing, mentoring, and developing staff through forums, tutorials, and weekly educational workshops. ESNEFT is implementing the EPIC electronic patient record system across the site, including electronic prescribing, administration, and pharmacy stock control systems. We also operate fully automated dispensaries, a medicines advice site, and a regional pharmacy manufacturing unit with a new aseptic facility.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the optimal and cost-effective use of medicines within elective orthopaedic services, minimizing wastage, and managing high-cost medicines.
2. Providing advanced clinical pharmacy services in line with KPIs and clinical standards.
3. Supporting and mentoring pharmacy colleagues and junior doctors in safe prescribing, medicines reconciliation, and electronic discharge processes.
4. Developing clinical pharmacy input into orthopaedic services and providing departmental leadership.
5. Supporting the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Orthopaedics (trauma) and sharing mutual support.
We offer flexible working options, a comprehensive training and development program, a generous pension scheme, 27 days annual leave (pro-rata), unsocial hours payments (where applicable), NHS discounts, and a Staff Wellbeing programme. Our digital transformation with Epic aims to improve workflows and patient care.
If you are passionate about patient care and want to develop your skills, we would love to hear from you. For more information or informal visits, contact:
