The opportunity
The Communications Officer will play a key role in delivering high-impact communications that support Progress Together's mission to improve social mobility across the UK. Working closely with the Director of Growth and External Affairs, you will contribute to crafting compelling content, managing media relations, and supporting campaigns that influence policy, grow membership, and engage key stakeholders. This is a dynamic role that offers the opportunity to work on meaningful issues, build strong networks, and contribute to real social change.
Main responsibilities
* Create and manage content across digital channels, including writing copy for the website, newsletters, social media, and reports, with a focus on storytelling and driving engagement.
* Support PR activity by drafting press releases, managing media contacts, and tracking press coverage
* Support events and campaigns by developing communications materials, coordinating with external suppliers, and managing logistics before, during and after events.
* Monitor and evaluate impact of communications and produce monthly reports to inform future strategy.
Key skills and experience required
* Confident communicator, with strong writing and editing skills
* Relevant experience in communications, media, or public affairs
* Experience in Mailchimp, WordPress, Eventbrite and Canva/Adobe Creative Suite
* Ability to analyse engagement data to optimise ROI across events and campaigns
* Experience of website administration, maintenance and implementing SEO methods to boost visibility
