A well-established, family-run agricultural business in the South Norfolk countryside is looking for an experienced Farm Administrator or Farm Office Manager to join their team and, in time, become very much part of the furniture. Based close to the Suffolk border, the farm operates in the heart of East Anglia, producing high quality, sustainably grown arable crops, fresh produce and poultry. It is a professionally run business with strong values, a loyal workforce, and a genuine pride in what they do. This role would suit someone who understands farming and rural life and is looking for a long-term role. The Opportunity This is a senior administrative role supporting the day to day running of the farm and reporting directly to the Directors. The successful candidate will work closely alongside the existing Farm Administrator for part of the week. She has been with the business for ten wonderful years and is a valued and genuinely lovely member of the team, offering an excellent handover and continuity. For the remaining days, the role will be carried out independently, so it is important that the incoming administrator is capable, confident and comfortable taking responsibility. The role is hands on and varied and will suit someone who enjoys being relied upon, takes pride in their work and prefers a practical, agricultural working environment rather than anything corporate. The right person will quickly become an integral part of the business. The Role Responsibilities will include the financial and administrative management of the farm office, such as: General office administration Purchase and sales ledgers Invoice processing, supplier queries and payment runs Chasing overdue receipts where required Monthly bank reconciliations Value Added Tax submissions, Her Majestys Revenue and Customs and pension payments Staff contracts and employment documentation Equipment finance and insurance administration Financial reporting and liaison with external accountants Crop sales and contract ledgers Improving systems, processes, and use of technology The ideal Person This position is ideally suited to someone who has worked in a farming or rural business environment before and understands how those businesses operate day to day. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, bright, and proactive, with a high attention to detail and a calm, organised approach. They will be confident handling finance-related administration, comfortable working independently and as part of a small team, and well presented, articulate and professional in manner. Just as importantly, they will be genuinely nice to be around, fit naturally into a close-knit team, and come with excellent references. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is essential. Familiarity with farm management systems such as FarmPlan or Gatekeeper would be beneficial but is not essential. A background in agriculture, equestrian, shooting or wider rural life would be a real advantage. Due to the remote location, candidates will need to be relatively local and must hold a full driving licence and have access to their own vehicle. The Setting The farm is set within open Norfolk countryside and offers a peaceful and attractive working environment. The office is light, welcoming and well kept. The team is friendly, committed and loyal, and there is a much-loved farm dog who is very much part of daily life. A calm, well behaved dog of your own would also be welcome. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Farm Administrator or Farm Office Manager looking to settle long term, become a trusted presence and play a key role in a successful agricultural business. It will suit someone who wants to build something lasting and be part of the fabric of a farm.
