Overview
IVT Ophthalmic Practitioner role at Hywel Dda University Health Board. The Ophthalmology department is recruiting experienced ophthalmic practitioners to undertake an exciting challenge and train to become an advanced practitioner within the Intravitreal Therapy (IVT) service. Flexible travel between sites is required.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the organisation of the IVT service, working closely with the AMD coordinators to optimise clinical times and manage waiting lists.
* Be able to participate in all testing required for patients within the IVT service.
* Clinically assess and provide treatment by intravitreal injection/implant to patients within the IVT service, following medical guidance and treatment protocol.
* Demonstrate highly developed clinical skills in delivering intravitreal injections with a high degree of accuracy.
* Develop own knowledge, skills and competencies in line with the service training programme, maintaining a professional portfolio and contributing to own PDR.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing expert advice to colleagues, patients and carers to promote health, independence and disease prevention.
* Maintain professional standards and act in accordance with uniform protocol and effective interpersonal communication with patients, carers and colleagues.
* Support the delivery of NHS services across the Hywel Dda University Health Board areas, including travel between sites as required by service needs.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Previous ophthalmic experience is essential.
* Nurses currently undertaking a specific ophthalmic qualification will be considered, with substantial experience also considered in the absence of formal evidence of learning.
* Ophthalmic Nurse, Optometrist or Orthoptist with readiness to train to advanced practitioner in IVT.
* Flexibility and ability to travel between sites in a timely manner; comfortable working independently within your scope of practice and within a team.
Additional Information
Workplace base will be defined based on service location closest to the applicant’s home address, but the role entails travelling across sites as required by service needs.
