My client is currently seeking a Principal Enforcement Officer to join their team on a contract basis within the highways sector. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance and effective enforcement of planning regulations, while providing leadership within the Planning Enforcement Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide a leadership role within the Planning Enforcement Team, including the line management of junior team members, report sign off, and mentoring.
Maintain a high level of stakeholder communication, updating complainants and local councillors on case progress and outcomes.
Manage a complex caseload of enforcement cases, investigating alleged breaches of planning control and taking appropriate enforcement actions.
Lead the preparation and drafting of enforcement reports and notices.
Handle planning enforcement appeals, preparing and presenting cases on all appeal types, including written representations, hearings, and inquiries.
Oversee any legal action required due to enforcement activities, including injunctions, prosecutions, and confiscation proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Collaborate with colleagues across the Development Corporation and manage key relationships with external stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
Experience in enforcement within the highways or planning sector.
Excellent leadership and mentoring skills.
Strong communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with stakeholders at various levels.
Ability to manage a complex caseload and perform detailed investigations.
Experience in preparing enforcement reports and handling legal proceedings.
Proficiency in working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Understanding of the legal frameworks related to planning enforcement and the Proceeds of Crime Act.
