The Role We are currently seeking caring and enthusiastic Autism Support Workers to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within specialist SEND settings. This role involves working closely with children and young people who may have communication difficulties, sensory needs, and additional learning needs. You will support pupils both in the classroom and during structured activities throughout the school day.You will be required to work on both a 1:1 basis and with small groups, adapting your support style to meet the individual needs of pupils. Responsibilities will include supporting communication, promoting engagement within lessons, and helping pupils to feel safe and comfortable within the learning environment. A calm, patient, and nurturing approach is essential, alongside a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs. The School This specialist SEND provision, located within the Wakefield area, supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder and a range of additional complex needs. The school provides a highly supportive and structured environment, with a strong focus on communication, routine, and sensory-aware learning approaches. Staff work collaboratively to ensure pupils receive personalised support tailored to their individual needs. Class sizes are small, allowing staff to build positive relationships and provide consistent support throughout the school day.
