This is a great opportunity for a fixed term position, working as a Clinical Sister on a Cardiology Ward. Wr are a 26 bedded ward which includes 10 Monitored beds.
Main duties of the job
You are required to be flexible, forward thinking and able to work effectively within a changing dynamic environment. You should possess excellent communication skills and sound decision-making skills with evidence of ongoing professional development.
The successful applicant will have a passion for delivering high quality patient centered-care, whilst working within the cardiovascular team.
The Role will involve the participation of the leadership structure on the ward and you will work alongside the Ward Manager to successfully lead the team and provide outstanding nursing care to all patients.
This will involve leading the team clinically as the nurse in charge and being responsible for the day to day running of the department ensuring patient care is delivered safely and effectively.
You will work with the Ward Manger to provide support, education and assist in the managerial duties of staff line management reviewing sickness, rosters and risk management.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To assist the ward manager in leading a team of nurses in the delivery of high standards of care.
To audit care against agreed standards and to lead on identified clinic audit projects.
To identify any learning that is evident in the delivery of care and develop and implement action plans to address areas of learning.
To implement information strategies ensuring that patients and carers are given as much information relating to their investigations and their diagnosis as they need.
To base own practice on current best evidence.
To investigate complaints and incidents in accordance with the trusts policies and procedures. Provide statements accurately, timely and professionally. Support the Ward Manager in improving systems to prevent recurrence.
To assist Ward Manager to optimize nursing resources by even distribution of staff annual leave and matching skill mix to workload by completing the Eroster.
You will be involved in completing PADRS, clincal supervision and sickness management.

Registered Adult nurse with upto date NMC registration
Essential criteria
1. at least 2 years work experience of at a band 5, with experience of taking charge of a ward/department
2. Cardiology knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
3. Leadership and management qualification or training
4. BSc in related nursing/cardiology subjects
5. ECG interpretation qualification/module
Ability to manage a team
