Job description:
We are seeking an Engineering Manager for the Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation (EC&I) department. In this role, you will coordinate and lead projects, managing the EC&I design and engineering team.
Responsibilities:
* Manage all designers and engineers within your discipline, including utilisation, holidays, expenses, performance reviews, and time writing.
* Motivate and develop staff through training and development plans.
* Review, update, and implement procedures, standards, guidance notes, and forms for your discipline.
* Recruitment and resourcing for your discipline.
* Prepare proposals and estimates for your discipline.
* Manage quality assurance for engineering and design, ensuring standards are met across projects.
* Appoint discipline checkers and approvers.
* Lead EC&I design within multi-discipline EPCM or EPC projects, from concept to commissioning, across various sectors.
* Manage projects within budget and schedule, including change control and coordination with other disciplines.
* Maintain client relationships, manage expectations, and participate in design reviews.
* Provide technical support and make independent decisions within EC&I engineering.
* Coordinate EC&I engineering with Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Process, and Automation disciplines.
* Estimate, control, and report project costs, progress, scope changes, and man-hours.
Candidate profile:
* Over 3 years of experience as a line manager.
* Over 5 years of experience as Lead Engineer in EC&I within multi-discipline projects.
* Experience managing quality control procedures.
* Deep knowledge of EC&I engineering and familiarity with other disciplines.
* Ability to forecast and manage resources and recruitment.
* MEng/BEng in EC&I Engineering; Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership.
* Strong understanding of standards such as 7671, 7430, 61508, 61511, ATEX, DSEAR, LV, and HV.
* Excellent planning, delegation, and leadership skills.
* Ability to chair design review meetings.
