Support Workers – Gateshead
Full-time & Part-time roles available
We are a supported living organisation specialising in bespoke support packages for people with learning disabilities and Autism who want to live fulfilling lives in their own homes, within their community. We are now looking for Support Workers to join our team in the Gateshead area, supporting a wonderful young person with Autism and a Learning Disability as they take the exciting step of moving into their own home.

Pay & Benefits
* £13.20 per hour
* £97.68 – £122.10 per sleep-in
* Average annual salary of £30,500 (based on full-time hours)
* Friend referral scheme with cash bonus – up to £500 per person

What We're Looking For

* Social care qualifications and/or relevant training in supporting autistic people & those with learning disabilities
* Commitment to further training and development
* A person-centred, inclusive approach
* A positive outlook, creating a happy environment and supporting quality of life
* Experience working with individuals who display behaviours that challenge
* Flexible, responsive, and person-centred support skills
* Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act & Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (training provided)
* Knowledge of the Mental Health Act (training provided)
* Confidence using & implementing positive behaviour support plans (training provided)
* Knowledge or experience of intensive interaction or rebound therapy (training can be provided)
* Effective communication skills and familiarity with communication aids (PECS, Now & Next, intensive interaction etc.)
* A clean driving licence and willingness to be a named driver
* Ability to swim and enjoy swimming activities
Key Responsibilities
* Liaise with family, advocates, and professionals
* Encourage the development of life skills
* Support with a range of household tasks including cooking, cleaning, and laundry, maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness
* Work as part of a consistent, long-term staff team to build trust and strong relationships
