LOCATION: Salford- Quay House - Hybrid
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to £64,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE As a senior systems engineer you'll play a key role in our systems engineering group working on media production systems and workflows. We are looking for an experienced professional engineer able to lead on complex technical problems and work with a small team of system engineers.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT: • You will work on solution design, evaluation and project delivery for media and production tools across the BBC - serving digital, TV and radio outputs.
• Delivering improvements in the operating environment and ensuring alignment with the overall BBC enterprise architecture strategy
• Responsibility for working with project, product and technical leads, contractors and manufacturers to design media systems and create implementable solutions to the business' technical requirements.
• Responsible for planning and supervising technical installations, including producing high level designs, wiring schedules and detailed schematic drawings in addition to testing and handover documentation.
• Integrate media systems with existing and new monitoring, and support tools.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Experience assisting with the design, delivery or support of technical systems and infrastructure within a media technology environment.
• Have a good understanding of IP based audio and video technologies
• Have a proven understanding of Broadcast Systems Engineering in the form of a recognised qualification (to BEng or MSc level) or equivalent experience.
• Maintain a high level of subject matter expertise in Production Workflows and Systems, develop expertise in new and existing technologies.
• Experience translating project, user and product requirements into technical solutions.
DESIRED:
• Ability to write and communicate complex technology solutions in a clear and coherent way.
• Knowledge or experience of working with media/technology tools (hardware and software).
• Knowledge of broadcast or datacentre infrastructure installations including power, environmental and space layout considerations.
• Knowledge of cloud computing disciplines (Networking as a Service (NaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Internet Protocol (IP) technologies).
• Have an awareness of virtualisation and cloud based solutions
