This new part time(0.8FTE) post is available from 1 October 2025 on a fixed term basis until31 March 2027, with extension beyond this date subject to funding.
The role
TheAccEPT service (https://www.exeter.ac.uk/mooddisorders/acceptclinic/) is an NHS fundedservice offering psychological therapies to adults with mood disorders. It ishosted by the University of Exeter, and contributes to research into new andexisting psychological therapies. This post will involve delivering novelpsychological interventions to adults experiencing mood disorders. There willbe a particular focus on delivery of Augmented Depression Therapy (ADepT; arecovery and wellbeing oriented therapy) as part of a randomised controlledtrial. The successful applicant(s) is/are likely to be a qualified and experienced psychological therapist withexpertise in cognitive behavioural or behavioural therapy delivery.
Main duties of the job
This role involves delivering psychological therapies within the AccEPT clinic, University ofExeter. AccEPT is a partnership between the Mood Disorders Centre at the University ofExeter and the local NHS, which develops, evaluates and disseminates novel psychologicaltherapies for mood disorders and related conditions for clients falling into the gap betweenprimary (NHS Talking Therapies) and secondary care (community mental health teams)care. The post-holder will work alongside the existing therapists within the team, as well asclinical supervisors, researchers and the AccEPT Co-ordinator to deliver these therapies toadults from the local community, in line with AccEPT policies and procedures. The postholder will also be involved in contributing to the evaluation and development of thesetherapies. Job responsibilities
Main duties andaccountabilities:
1)To provide psychological therapy to adults with Depression and / or relatedconditions, including delivery of ADepT. This is likely to involve:
a)Arranging initial and ongoing appointments with clients.
b)Conducting initial assessment or telephone screening sessions whereappropriate.
c)Delivering these therapies according to the relevant protocol(s).
d)Keeping appropriate records of the work conducted.
e) Liaising with referrers andother health care professions and external agencies as necessary for effectivepatient care.
2) To be familiar with, andwork within, professional standards and guidelines, relevant legal frameworksand the operational protocols of the AccEPT clinic, including policies oninformation governance and safeguarding of vulnerable individuals.
3) To engage in reflectivepractice, including attendance of regular clinical supervision; to engage inprofessional development and necessary training.
4) To contribute, whereappropriate, to the evaluation and development of protocols for the delivery oftherapy and the training of clinicians and students. For example:-
- Use appropriate teaching,learning support and assessment methods, where appropriate contribute to thesupervision of student projects and placements;
- Select appropriate assessmentinstruments and criteria, assess the work and progress of students / cliniciansby reference to the criteria and provideconstructive feedback to students;
- Ensure that module design anddelivery comply with the quality standards and regulations of the universityand Faculty
5) Identify areas where currentprovision is in need of revision or improvement and contribute to the planning,design and development of objectives and material.
6) Whereagreed with the clinic lead or his / her delegate, to contribute to thedissemination of clinical knowledge on behalf of the AccEPT service, and toliaise with external stakeholders regarding the work of the service (includingsupervision and training of other therapists).
7) Toparticipate in, and take forward, service audit and evaluation procedures.
8) Torepresent the AccEPT Service in relevant professional organisations (e.g.BABCP)to ensure that the AccEPT Service maintains awareness and links with a broadrange of services and issues.
9) To be agood team player, who supports and contributes to the morale and development ofthe team.
10) Toundertake appropriate training and supervision in order to maintainprofessional registration and/or accreditation as required by the University

Participate inand develop external networks, for example to secure student placements,facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, orbuild relationships for future activities.

2. Beresponsible for administrative duties in areas such as liaising with patientsand their care teams, maintaining patient records and booking therapy rooms.
The post isconditional upon the post-holder obtaining a suitable outcome from an enhancedDBS check with adult barred list, conducted by the University of Exeter, priorto commencing employment. The post holder will be subject to regular repeat DBSchecks whilst in post, in line with University of Exeter and NHS guidelines.
The postholder is expected to work primarily onsite (Streatham campus of the Universityof Exeter); some degree of remote working may be possible subject to linemanager agreement.

* Delivery of CBT or Behavioural Therapy with bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders and/or complex trauma (including DBT and mindfulness approaches)
* Experience of learning and delivering novel psychological therapies within a research setting.
* Experience of delivering other novel interventions being researched currently in AccEPT.
* Experience of postgraduate teaching and supervision.
* Familiarity with the NHS Talking Therapies context
