Job description
Fixed term contract to July 2026 (with the possibility of extension if funding allows and the pupil remains in school) starting as soon as possible.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced, caring, enthusiastic, highly motivated, empathetic and capable SEND support assistant to play a key role in school, supporting pupils with complex needs (with an EHC Plan).
The post is for 30 hours per week term time only (8:30 – 3.20) and is a fixed term contract to July 17th 2026 in the first instance, with the possibility of being extended if the child remains in school with funding and depending on the school budget.
The successful applicant will be required to support the class teacher in the development and implementation of strategies to facilitate learning, manage behaviour in line with the pupils' needs and abilities, work as part of a team to support pupils with complex needs and liaise with external agencies where appropriate.
You will have:
* Wide experience of working with children with complex needs
* Experience of the EYFS and Y1 curriculums
* The ability to support learning
* Patience and the ability to relate well to children
* A good sense of humour
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* The ability to show initiative, work independently and as part of a team
* A willingness to work with outside agencies
* Skills in behaviour management of children
* A willingness to undertake any appropriate training
