We are looking for maternity cover for a full-time Business Operations Team Leader to join our friendly team in Adult and Community Learning. You will be organised and a thorough person with enthusiasm both for people and for process, who can prioritise their team’s workload effectively.

We need a good communicator who will maintain good relationships within the wider team and with a range of suppliers. You will enjoy working independently, be able to analyse and improve processes, monitor the team in maintaining accurate records, and have strong problem-solving abilities to notice and investigate issues.
You will manage a team of 6x Business Support Assistants and Learning Centre Assistants and a Business Support Officer, who are located across two sites, and in hybrid roles. You will therefore need to be a good motivator, able to inspire and bring out the best in people.
You will be working predominantly at The Park Community Centre in Knowle, and at Stoke Lodge Adult Learning Centre in Stoke Bishop a few times a month.
The Team:Community Learning organise and run classes for adults with few or no qualifications who face significant barriers to education and learning. We offer a wide range of classes throughout Bristol, concentrated in areas of economic hardship. We help raise confidence whilst developing skills and knowledge so learners can progress to furtherlearning and work. We are passionate about achieving the best possible outcomes to help our learners succeed.
Adult Learning run fee-paying courses focusing on languages, art and crafting, culture, cooking and lots more. We provide leisure learning opportunities for all Bristol residents.
As part of the Business Operations team, your role is to support the course organisers and tutors in the administration of delivery of their classes and their learners. This role involves managing the HR needs of the admin and finance team, leading and monitoring the admin processes and providing operational and administrative support to the wider team.
The Tasks:Oversee daily administrative operations within the team, managing team workload and ensuring tasks are allocated efficiently and completed according to schedule.
* Take an operational lead on processes relating to CPD, DBS, health and safety monitoring, and exam administration.
* Manage the HR needs of the team including recruitment, performance evaluation, 1:1s, training, absence management and team wellbeing.
* Supervision and monitoring of data entry to ensure high standard of accuracy and quality of work.
* Production of regular and timely reports to ensure accurate information can be provided to team leaders, managers and funding bodies.
* Oversee the raising and processing of purchase orders, invoices and financial information.
* Develop, implement, maintain and review operational processes.
* Ensure compliance with Bristol City Council, WECA and other funding body’s policies and regulations.

The Location:The Park Community Centre is a hub for local community organisations; we work in an open office with a friendly atmosphere and team members and learners coming and going. The role is 37 hours a week within the Community Learning office opening hours; Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm.
There is a cafe on site, free parking available and we are within walking distance of 2 bus routes.
Stoke Lodge Adult Learning Centre is a listed building in Stoke Bishop with its own car park and a bus stop within a few minutes’ walk. It has beautiful views of the surrounding park land, trees and healthy population of squirrels!It’s a small and friendly team but the building is always buzzing with learners.Stoke Lodge office opening hours are Monday to Friday 8.30 to 5:00pm.
