We’re recruiting for an experienced Womenswear Designer to focus on formalwear & tailoring for maternity cover (14months) You will be part of a large womenswear design team within a long established apparel manufacturer, and be responsible for the design and development of commercial trend led ranges for a major clothing retailer.
Responsibilities:
* Trend Hunting - Research emerging trends to design seasonal collections with a focus on formal & tailored garments
* Design with Purpose – Spot gaps in the customer’s range and propose fresh, commercial styling and fabric ideas
* Present ranges and take Customers’ briefs for developments
* Research and Source on-trend Fabrics, sharing your discoveries with internal teams and the Customer.
* Relationship Building – Become a trusted partner to high street buyers and production teams.
* Technical Know-How – Understand garment construction and production constraints to ensure flawless execution
* Manage Developments - Create and maintain detailed tech packs, ensuring samples hit the mark, and samples are delivered in time for range build and sign off meetings.
* Global Liaison – Communicate daily with mills, factories, and buying teams to keep developments on track.
Skills and Requirements:
* A degree in Fashion Design and 3+ years of post-study experience in womenswear. Experience within a similar supplier environment would be advantageous.
* Strong portfolio showcasing formal, tailored womenswear designs.
* Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, CAD & MSOffice.
* A sharp eye for proportion, silhouette, and fabric
* A proactive, passionate, and collaborative spirit
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Calm under pressure, with a creative and solutions-focused mindset
