Are you curious, detail-oriented, and passionate about forensic science? Do you want to play a key role in solving crimes and supporting justice? Nottinghamshire Police is looking for a dedicated Crime Scene Investigator (Tier 1) to join our East Midlands Special Operations Unit – Forensic Services (EMSOU-FS).
What’s the Role About?
As a Tier 1 CSI, you’ll be the first on the scene for volume crimes—collecting evidence, capturing photographs, and helping to uncover the truth. You’ll also support more serious and complex investigations under supervision, working closely with police officers, forensic experts, and the criminal justice system.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Attend and examine crime scenes to collect forensic evidence.
* Use photography and scientific techniques to support investigations.
* Support major crime scenes under supervision.
* Maintain accurate records and follow forensic procedures.
* Work to national standards (ISO 17020, FSR Codes of Practice).
* Keep equipment and vehicles in good working order.
* Give evidence in court when required.
* Work shifts across a 7-day rota.
What You’ll Need
* Experience in a customer-focused or methodical working environment.
* Awareness of photography or scientific techniques.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Comfortable using Microsoft Office and other systems.
* Physically fit and able to work in challenging environments.
Education (You must meet at least one of the following criteria)
* To be a fully qualified and experienced Crime Scene Investigator
* Science or photography based qualification to A-Level, Level 3 or equivalent
* Operational experience within the field of Crime Scene Investigation
