The Role Three years and £10m in the making, The Aqua Club at The Headland is a no-luxury-spared swimming and wellbeing complex offering an incredible 6 pools. The building and its sleek curves soothe the senses while Cornish stonework celebrates the iconic landmark location on the edge of the Atlantic. We are looking for a passionate, energetic and professional individual to take over the day-to-day management of this exceptional complex and the guest experience in the role of Aqua Club Duty Manager. You will have already worked in the Leisure or Spa industry and have proven experience managing a 5* service alongside our H&S and pool plant responsibilities. You will be responsible for the delivery of the highest levels of customer service to all users, guests and members of the Aqua Club and will be the first and main point of contact for all queries within the facility. Although you will have no direct line management responsibilities, you will be responsible for overseeing and supervising the operational team supporting the Aqua Club and the Spa in the absence of the Wellness Manager. Together, alongside the Wellness Manager and Assistant Spa Manager, you will be part of the Senior Management Team of the Spa and Aqua Club. Our fabulous team are important to us. Key Responsibilities Support in managing the daily operations of the Spa and Aqua Club, ensuring a welcoming and seamless experience for all guests and members. Supervise and support the wellness team, helping to lead daily briefings, allocate tasks, and ensure service excellence. Assist in recruitment, induction, and ongoing development of team members. Ensure adequate coverage and operational efficiency. Conduct regular one-to-one performance check-ins and support team wellbeing. Handle guest enquiries, feedback, and complaints with professionalism and empathy, always seeking timely and satisfactory resolutions. Monitor health, safety, and cleanliness standards in all wellness areas. Maintain effective stock control, ordering supplies and products in a timely manner to ensure availability without overstocking. Assist with overseeing Aqua Club memberships, ensuring all members feel valued and receive personalised attention. Act as a key point of contact in the event of an emergency, following all necessary protocols to ensure guest and staff safety. Provide administrative support including reporting, scheduling, and supporting promotional activities or wellness events. Contribute ideas for improving service delivery and driving departmental revenue. Essential Attributes Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong leadership qualities with a natural ability to motivate others. Organised, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure. Able to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment. A team player with a can-do attitude and a guest-first mindset. Flexible to work a variety of shifts including weekends, holidays, and early or late hours. Desirable (but not essential) Experience in a spa, fitness, or hospitality environment. Understanding of wellness services and guest expectations in a luxury setting. Basic knowledge of spa treatments or wellness industry trends. Salary and Contract This is a full-time permanent position based on a 40 hour working week including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
