Department Overview: New Model Launch is responsible for the preparation of new models for production. The focus is on the production readiness of all departments and management of build issues, containments and change, as well as focussing on ensuring the ‘on time’ delivery, meeting the quality targets and at the right cost. Job Purpose: To plan, coordinate, and lead the build of pre-series vehicles with the assistance of all key stakeholder departments within Operations, Program, R&D and others. The main purpose is to ensure build timing is met, all processes and parts validated during each build phase and all build issues recorded. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for developing and achieving the pre series build plan ensuring that agreed handover dates are met so that the Vehicle Program Plan and therefore the overall business plans are met. Responsible to declare “Okay to Build” based on the production readiness process and other performance indicators, for instance, Audit scores, parts availability and part pedigree. Responsible for identifying and recording of all Build Issues during the pre-series build as well as implementation of Containments and Concerns. Be the Benchmark with regards to “living the business values” – Unity, Openness, Trust, Ownership and Courage.
