Interim Chartered Building Surveyor (Acquisition and Refurb Programme)
Location: Greater Manchester, hybrid
Rate: £400-450 per day
Contract: 3-6 months
Spencer Clarke Group have an opportunity for an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor to support a major public-sector programme focused on identifying, acquiring, and refurbishing residential properties to improve outcomes for children and young people in residential care.
You will lead activity across pre-acquisition, due diligence, approvals, acquisition and post-acquisition delivery, and then take ownership of refurbishment delivery, including project management and contract administration.
Responsibilities
* Identifying and assessing acquisition opportunities and maintaining a live tracker of prospects
* Coordinating desktop reviews, shortlisting, and arranging stakeholder viewings
* Managing RICS Level 3 surveys and valuations, plus legal due diligence and conveyancing through to completion
* Preparing appraisal and board-level approval documentation
* Managing consultants through measured surveys, concept design, planning and building regs
* Producing / signing off Descriptions of Works, tender packs, and procurement documentation
* Leading refurbishment delivery: programme, cost control, risk, quality, reporting
* Contract administration duties (including variations, valuations, interim payments, practical completion)
* Chairing progress meetings and maintaining accurate project records
About You
* Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) (or equivalent demonstrable senior experience)
* Strong project management and contract administration capability (ideally JCT experience)
* Comfortable with surveys, valuations, due diligence and stakeholder reporting/approvals
* Confident operating in a public-sector environment with multiple stakeholders
* Able to work on-site in Greater Manchester as required
