Main duties of the job
The Senior Mental Health Practitioner will work within a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to provide a specialised/occupational mental health service for Service and entitled personnel within the Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH) and network as required. The post holder will have extensive experience delivering psychological therapy in a stepped care service, robust clinical assessment skills, and an understanding of occupational roles and needs. Tasks include:
* Provide a timely and high-quality mental health service to all patients referred to the DCMH for assessment and treatment of mental health presentations.
* Deliver a range of clinical work appropriate to qualifications, within your abilities and stretching your capability.
* Act as a clinical resource and liaise with Medical Officers/General Practitioners (MO/GP); advise the chain of command on mental health matters; manage administrative aspects of personnel with mental health difficulties; promote mental health.
* Work flexibly within 32 hours per week with core service hours 8am–5pm; services may operate across a network requiring flexibility in location and delivery.
* Provide training in assessment, formulation and other CBT-based practices to the team.
* Deputise for the team manager and undertake delegated professional management as required.

Further Information
Where business needs allow, some roles may be office and home-based. When office-based, a minimum of 60% of time should be in the office unless adjustments are needed. Applicants may request information on working arrangements. The sift will be completed within 10 working days of the vacancy closing date; interviews will be scheduled later. Travel expenses for interviews are not reimbursed. A 6-month probation period applies for Civil Service appointments. Access to the NHS pension scheme is available.
