Technical Project Manager / Associate Director
Location: Leicestershire (flexible working available)
Salary: £75,000 – £85,000 + Bonus + Benefits
The Opportunity
A growing land and development consultancy is seeking a Technical Project Manager / Associate Director to lead infrastructure-focused development projects across residential and mixed-use schemes.
This is a senior role offering genuine progression to Director level, with the opportunity to shape technical delivery, support business growth and influence long-term strategy.
You will operate as a senior technical lead across multiple projects, managing design coordination, approvals, infrastructure delivery and stakeholder engagement from pre-contract stage through to construction commencement.
Role Overview
You will take ownership of technical and project management functions across a portfolio of infrastructure-led developments, including:
* Strategic residential infrastructure
* Mixed residential and commercial schemes
* Pre-construction technical coordination
* Infrastructure agreements and statutory approvals
This role combines hands-on project delivery with leadership responsibility and commercial input.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Design Coordination
* Act as primary technical lead for clients and consultant teams.
* Lead infrastructure design development and technical approvals (S278, S38, S104, S184 etc.).
* Oversee design for roads, drainage, utilities, services and earthworks.
* Manage technical meetings and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
* Prepare and manage technical documentation including infrastructure delivery plans and design strategies.
Project & Programme Management
* Develop and manage project execution plans and design programmes.
* Integrate approved designs with client production and contractor teams.
* Support contractor procurement and ensure alignment with compliance standards.
* Chair technical project meetings and maintain governance procedures.
Cost & Risk Management
* Provide technical input into cost planning and optimisation.
* Identify, assess and mitigate technical risk.
* Advise on technical variations and commercial implications.
Stakeholder Management
* Liaise with local authorities, statutory bodies, consultants and contractors.
* Present technical updates clearly to senior stakeholders.
* Resolve design conflicts and maintain delivery momentum.
Business Growth & Leadership
* Support business development initiatives and client relationship growth.
* Assist in developing and mentoring the technical project management team.
* Contribute to strategic direction and service line expansion.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
* Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline) or relevant Project Management qualification.
* Minimum 5+ years’ experience in technical project management within infrastructure or residential development.
* Strong understanding of UK planning and technical approval processes.
* Experience managing infrastructure agreements (S278, S38, S104 etc.).
* Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary consultant teams.
* Strong commercial awareness and decision-making capability.
Desirable:
* Experience working with residential developers or land promoters.
* Knowledge of NEC / JCT contract suites.
* Experience producing bespoke technical documentation.
* Proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Project or BIM platforms.
