Disrepair Case Manager
* Hourly Rate: £19.79 PAYE (Umbrella rate approx. £25 per hour)
* Location: Manchester, M9
* Job Type: Part-time (minimum 2 days in office)
Join the Housing Services team at the Neighbourhoods Directorate of Manchester City Council as a Disrepair Case Manager. This role is pivotal in managing housing disrepair cases from start to finish, ensuring compliance with legal standards, timely completion of works, and delivering high-quality outcomes for residents.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Act as the central point of coordination among residents, legal teams, contractors, surveyors, and internal departments.
* Provide expert advice on housing disrepair issues, interpret relevant legislation, and ensure tenant safety and wellbeing.
* Lead on statutory enforcement responsibilities and collaborate with other council teams and external bodies as necessary.
* Maintain high standards of customer service, ensuring all cases are handled efficiently and effectively.
* Manage data recording and quality control of case information and outcomes.
* Where required, manage staff through direct line management or a virtual/matrix team setup.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Strong understanding of housing regulations and the disrepair pre-action protocol.
* Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a public sector or legal environment.
* Excellent communication skills, capable of negotiating and advising on complex cases.
* Strong planning, organising, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage a reactive and proactive workload effectively.
* Experience in leading and managing teams, with a focus on performance management and professional development.
