Job Reference: JH/JR/WKH Job Title: Male Personal Assistant (Bank PA) Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer Hours: Variable (cover annual leave / sickness) Hourly Rate of Pay: £13 per hour £12.21 per hour sleep in Based at: Own bungalow (employer's home address) in Bedworth Job Purpose To work one to one with an adult with an Acquired Brain Injury. He has a great sense of humour and has brought his own bungalow that is fully adapted. The purpose is to build a trusting professional relationship with the gentleman. To support him in day to day living and health needs and develop his quality of life. The gentleman enjoys good food and good company, TV, fishing, shopping, gardening, camping and going to the gym and exercising. The gentleman does have his own automatic motability vehicle which staff can use for travelling distances with him, therefore a driving licence is preferable (but not essential as public transport and walking are options) Main duties To support with - Personal care - Assisting medication - Day to day activities and day to day living - Rehabilitation - Cooking (the gentleman will require full support with cooking) - Cleaning - Washing and ironing - Shopping - Transfers whilst in and out of the wheelchair - Gentleman has a tracking hoist with a raised bath - Support and attend health care appointments - Family visit - Fishing - Day Trip's - Disco - Managing challenging behaviour To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required. Personal Specification: Have experience of working with vulnerable adults. Flexible in the hours and times that you can work. Have a good sense of humour and enjoy a friendly joke. Be patient and supportive. Be friendly and outgoing. Be honest, reliable and trustworthy. Be respectful of the employer's dignity, at all times. Understand the need for privacy and confidentiality. You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety. Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills. A willingness to undergo any training highlighted by the employer. You should have some knowledge and understanding of risks. Have an awareness and knowledge of equal opportunities. Resilience and awareness of triggers in managing some behaviours that challenge.
