We are a thriving multi-disciplinary design-led office of some 100 designers with an ever-increasing portfolio of exciting and varied projects.
The County Council owns a large estate, which includes over 100 listed buildings and scheduled monuments. This historic estate is subject to an ongoing programme of conservation and repair.
We are looking for high calibre individuals to join our team and help deliver this work, embracing our commitment to caring for the heritage of Hampshire.
Joining our team will provide you with an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience and further your professional career. Based in the historic city of Winchester, we are confident you will find Hampshire a great place to live and work.
The Role:
To assist in the provision of a conservation focussed architectural service that is high quality, creative and effective, planning, designing and delivering successful projects safely, on time, on budget and with good client feedback.
What you’ll do:
You will provide a high-quality architectural and conservation service, overseeing projects from initial planning through to completion. This includes leading multi-disciplinary teams, managing projects ranging from £50,000 to £10 million, and ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Your role balances design, conservation, construction technology, and project management to deliver solutions that meet client needs and offer best value.
You’ll maintain strong communication with stakeholders, even in sensitive situations, and foster positive relationships. Additionally, you’ll support junior staff development, promote best practices across Property Services, and demonstrate a high level of technical and specialist expertise.
What we’re looking for:
We’re seeking a professionally qualified architect or technologist, registered with ARB, CIAT, or an equivalent body, and holding RIBA Part III or equivalent. You’ll bring a strong understanding of conservation principles—particularly those of Historic England and SPAB—and have proven experience working on protected historic buildings and sites.
You’ll be confident in analysing issues related to historic structures and developing appropriate solutions, as well as conceptualising and delivering architectural designs. A solid knowledge of statutory requirements within the building industry is essential, along with excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills.
Proficiency in IT and CAD is expected, and conservation accreditation from RIBA, AABC, or CIAT would be a welcome addition.
