Highway Network Management
Base – Hybrid working (Town Hall / Home / Site)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Sheffield Highway Network Management Team.
This team is responsible for coordinating and managing Sheffield’s highway network while enabling significant City Centre and local economic redevelopment.
Network Management Technicians work with Engineers and the Principal Engineer to identify and resolve potential highway and traffic management issues in a timely manner during planned, live, and emergency works.
A large part of this role involves interpreting legislation or policy, providing guidance on regulatory or technical issues, and supporting or challenging stakeholders as appropriate.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive individual with excellent communication skills, a good understanding of highway works challenges, and the ability to manage and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including colleagues, Service Managers, Councillors, contractors, developers, and the public.
A key aspect of the role involves understanding complex scenarios with competing challenges and translating them into practical actions for third parties to ensure safe working, support economic redevelopment, and maintain the highway and pedestrian networks for the public.
A full driving license and access to a vehicle are essential.
We are committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, and we actively encourage applications from under-represented groups, including Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled, and LGBTQ+ individuals. We support flexible working arrangements to accommodate staff with unpaid caring responsibilities.
