DEPARTMENT: BBC Nations, Radio Derby
LOCATION: Derby
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £42,200 - £54,600 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

BBC EXTEND

This role is advertised as part of our BBC Extend programme for disabled people. To apply for this role you should identify as deaf, disabled or neurodivergent and must meet either the definition of disability in the Equality Act (2010), or the definition of disability in the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) if applying in Northern Ireland. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

BBC Radio Derby are offering this rare opportunity to join our multi-platform Derby team as a creative Community Producer delivering inspiring content. We need a passionate broadcaster, who is great at enabling others to tell their stories on air, online, through social media and TV, and who can make content that will surprise our audience.

You will be working in the heart of our communities in Derbyshire and East Staffordshire, developing partnerships with communities and design and implement a series of outreach projects which will tell the stories of audiences we don’t currently cater for.

You will excellent skills in managing people and relationships.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

We’re looking for someone with great editorial judgement, who can spot a story and turn it into creative radio and digital content. You’ll need experience of project and event management and be able to see an idea from concept to delivery.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to manage people and establish new relationships. You will head up some major projects including our Make a Difference Awards, Christmas Carol Service and large events that are important to our audience.

BBC Radio Derby serves a diverse audience and you will need extensive knowledge of the communities in Derbyshire and East Staffordshire and be able to support our effort to be part of hard to reach groups and organisations, connecting with them, making them feel supported, respected, celebrated and that they have a voice.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

* Leading the stations community engagement, project and event management and forging new partnerships.
* Leading teams in delivering impactful content that speaks to our underserved audiences.
* Managing the Station’s apprentices, and the Daytimes programme leading teams.
* Managing the Make a Difference Awards and other major station events and projects

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

* Strong Editorial Judgement and significant journalism and programming experience
* Experience working and delivering content in a multi-platform way
* Ability to lead and manage teams and lead and inspire people
* And ability to come up with ambitious ideas, projects and campaigns and deliver from concept to completion
* Resilience and the ability to work reactively under pressure, with a proven ability to judge audience need and react to feedback

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

* Previous experience managing projects
* Past examples of managing people and relationships
* Experience of delivering digital content
* Well versed in Editorial and Compliance Policies and know who to call on when you need advice
