What you will be doing:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Capability Lead to join the Fluid Mechanics Design Engineering team, based in Derby.
Capability Leads within Fluid Mechanics can cover Combustion, Fan & Compressors Aerodynamics, Aeromechanics, Hot & Cold Aerothermal, Noise, Installations Aerodynamics, Thermofluids, Turbine Aerodynamics & Cooling. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a team of engineers to perform at their best and input to the engineering strategy.
Responsibilities:
In this exciting role, you will lead, engage and develop a team to become suitably qualified and experienced (SQEP) to meet current and future business requirements. In addition to:
* Assign work packages to team and lead the the delivery and approval of technical activities,
* Play an active role in load/capacity planning and work with wider function to ensure suitable SQEP are available to complete programme deliverables. This includes engagement with third parties such as Managed Service Providers (MSP's) in line with agreed Do/Buy.
* Accountable for SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People) measures and performance for the aligned capability group.
* Accountable for appropriate section of Engineering strategy and driving to completion supported by functional leadership.
* Ensure compliance to process throughout the life cycle activity, including any third parties/MSP's working on behalf of the area.
* Ensure world class rules, tools and methods are developed and utilised effectively across the group for the accountable domain. This should focus on greater use of automation, digital tools and lean processes to drive efficiency.
* Drive and support the transition to model-based reusable product lines at system, product system and component level.
* Champion the adoption of Agile Scrum delivery methods.
* Own the performance and reward management, HSE, export and security clearance of the team. This will include specialist and leadership development for assigned staff.
