The Health, Safety & Wellbeing Officer supports the HSW Lead in ensuring all MMO activities are conducted in a safety compliant manner and helps to foster an organisation-wide HSW culture. �
Job description�
Key tasks, accountabilities and responsibilities
1. To attend, minute and support meetings with the health safety wellbeing and estates lead
2. Develop and manage health safety and wellbeing related documentation
3. To participate in safety studies, gathering and collating all the information for the creation of reports under the guidance of the health safety wellbeing and estates lead
4. To undertake and document internal audits to ISO standards
5. Investigate Near Miss, Accident, and Incidents, producing root cause analysis-based reports and action follow up
6. Provide health, safety, and environmental guidance to all levels of colleagues ensure current and best practise standards are met
7. Develop and review new policies and procedures to maintain or meet new legislative requirements
8. Monitor and maintain KPI performance data for the business as well as their own personal targets and KPIs,
9. Prepare board of director updates
10. Review/Develop Risk Assessments/Method Statements
11. Must be able to travel to coastal offices and have overnight stays away from contracted office location�on a monthly basis
12. Liaise with stakeholders and other Defra group partners
13. Support MMO estates with facility related issues regarding health safety and welfare, act as a liaison between Defra facilities and MMO estates representatives.
Essential
14. Ability to structure and analyse information to generate reports.
15. Good proficiency in excel, SharePoint, word, power point ,Viva Or other communication platforms, on-line conference platforms
16. Experience supporting audits/compliance/management system documentation
17. Ability to transfer knowledge effectively
18. Minimum of 3�years experience�in a Health, Safety and Wellbeing role
19. Root cause analysis experience and strong attention to detail
20. Hold practical experience auditing and managing compliance to any of the following standard�s OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001, 14001, 45001.
21. Have strong documentation skills and the ability to transfer knowledge effectively
22. Be collaborative by nature and able to engage the entire team
23. Knowledge of assessing and mitigating risk and providing sound advice to the business of conducting accident investigations and managing external bodies
Desirable
24. Experience of managing non-routine safety practices
25. Understanding of estates and facilities management
26. Experience of negotiating with providers to achieve a value-based provision
27. Experience of working in collaboration with external safety providers
28. Knowledge of application of safe working practices in remote and office environment
Essential
29. NEBOSH general certification accredited or willing to work towards.
Desirable
Internal Audit qualified.
