Senior/Principal Urban Designers - Cambridge
We are seeking an experienced Urban Designer to join our Design team in our Cambridge Office. We welcome applications from Masterplanners, Layout Designers, Architects, and Urban Designers, as we aim to select the most suitable candidate for our array of complex projects across the UK.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with a proficient team of designers and architects, engaging in urban design and planning activities, feasibility studies, layout development, formulation of development briefs, and design strategies for residential, mixed-use schemes, and beyond.
Responsibilities
* Provide urban design input across projects from feasibility through detailed design and delivery.
* Collaborate with designers and architects to develop layouts and development briefs for residential, mixed-use, and other schemes.
* Contribute to feasibility studies, design strategies, and planning submissions.
* Engage with clients to understand requirements and build effective working relationships.
* Support project management activities and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
* Hold a relevant Undergraduate Degree, Masters or Diploma in Urban Design / Architecture / Built Environment.
* Work experience in private practice / consultancy or a commercial housebuilding operation.
* Experience of detailed design / RMA and outline application experience.
* A working knowledge of the planning system with the ability to interpret and adapt to local authority design guidance.
* Knowledge of CAD software packages; Vectorworks and/or SketchUp is advantageous but not essential.
* Ability to work independently with other consultants and liaise with clients to understand requirements.
* Strong project management and excellent interpersonal and interdisciplinary skills.
* Self-motivated with an excellent eye for detail.
