We are pleased to offer this unique opportunity to work within the Staunton Group Practice. This is a full time role offering 40 hours per week (including break). You must be able to work on Fridays.
We are looking for an experienced HCA to work full time alongside experienced GPs, nurses, and the practice team to provide support to both patients and staff. This role is varied and interesting, with the primary focus being on delivering the highest standard of patient care. The role also assists with administrative duties as required, to facilitate the smooth running of the Practice.
The post holder will have achieved NVQ Level 3 in Care or equivalent experience and will be competent to perform a variety of clinical activities such as new patient health/NHS health checks, phlebotomy and minor dressings. Experience in the use of the diabetic care plan (YOC 1) and part 1 (CVD) is desirable but not essential.
Main duties of the job
The HCA will work with the Clinical Pharmacist on site to undertake the anticoagulation clinic, checking INR levels for patients prescribed warfarin and advising them of changes to their dose. Full training will be provided for this service.
The successful candidates will be expected to work under agreed protocols and under the supervision of a Senior Nurse and Clinical Pharmacist to provide quality care to patients. Ability to use Emis is also essential.

The purpose of the role is to work alongside senior multidisciplinary clinical colleagues to support clinical care and activities of patients presenting to the practice with minor illness and injury. Working under the direction of Nurse Practitioners and General Practitioners undertaking duties delegated to meet the needs of the team following policy and procedures.
You will need to be able to provide vaccinations for shingles, pneumococcal and flu vaccination.

Job responsibilities
To work under the supervision of the lead nurse and senior members of the team to carry out simple dressings, recording of vital signs, performing ECG, urinalysis, application of plaster of paris and walking boots, eye wash outs, visual acuity checks, assessment and dispensing of mobility aids and surgical appliances.
Assess patients' clinical observations after they have booked in to the UTC via e-triage and recognise abnormal results and report to a senior member of staff.
To help arrange transfer of patient care to appropriate setting, e.g., A+E for further ongoing assessment.
Provide clinical support to the team.
Recognise and work within own level of competencies, referring to a senior member of the team when patients present with complex conditions.
To liaise with community services and work with outside agencies to facilitate ongoing care.
To ensure effective communication between patients and the UTC team.
Ensure patient care is accurately documented in patient records.
To promote infection control.
Ensure patient privacy and dignity is maintained at all times.
To help the patient with their journey through the UTC.
