Theatre Practitioner (Anaesthetics)

This is a fantastic opportunity for theatre practitioners to enhance, expand and develop their existing skills and knowledge in a diverse range of surgical specialties including General Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Interventional Radiology, Trauma and Orthopedics, Urology, Gynae and Obstetrics, Plastic Surgery, Head and Neck and Maxillo-Facial Surgery across 19 operating theatres.

You will be based In the Acute and Vascular Theatres at Bradford Royal Infirmary. We are looking for Theatre Practitioners primarily with anaesthetic skills.

In BTHFT Theatres we offer:

* A structured induction package is available to all new starters
* Preceptorship tailored to professional requirements is offered to all newly qualified nurses and ODPs.
* Supernumerary period, only completed when competencies signed off
* Induction
* Dedicated time to support new staff
* Flexible with start date to accommodate time off between end of studying and starting work

* Training available


Main duties of the job

Delivering excellent standards of care and providing patient support throughout the peri-operative phase, advocating on behalf of the dependent patient. Undertaking the Anesthetic Practitioner role, ensuring safe environment and practice is maintained. Working with, and supporting other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Preparation and monitoring of the environment of care, and equipment. Supervising junior colleagues, unregistered staff and students.

Previous theatre experience would be an advantage, however a comprehensive training package is in place for newly qualified staff, or those new to the theatre environment.

The successful candidate should be motivated and enthusiastic and committed to delivering safe, high quality care.

This post requires out of hours work on a rotational basis

Person Specification


Experience

* Can demonstrate a high standard of clinical practice in relation to theatre setting
* Previous theatre experience


Skills

* Can demonstrate a contribution towards providing a positive learning environment.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills. Good written and verbal skills.
* Ability to prioritise and organise own workload.


Knowledge

* Ability to work effectively within perioperative team.
* Use evidence based practice to provide high standards of care
* Show some awareness of theatre speciality.
* Demonstrate awareness of current issues in health care.


Qualifications

* Demonstrate commitment to undertake further academic study.
* Teaching / assessing qualification
