Our client, a prominent educational institution in Oldham, Greater Manchester, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) Specialist Learning Support Assistant to join their team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive support and assistance to students with autism spectrum disorders, ensuring their educational and personal needs are met. As an ASD Specialist Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with our client's dedicated team of educators, therapists, and support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for our students. Your primary duties will involve implementing individualised support strategies, fostering social and communication skills, and facilitating the development of independent living skills. We are seeking a candidate who possesses a deep understanding of autism spectrum disorders and the unique challenges faced by students in this population. You should have a proven track record of working effectively with children and young adults with ASD, demonstrating empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to their academic and personal growth. In this role, you will be responsible for the following key duties and responsibilities: - Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with ASD, tailoring your approach to meet their individual needs and learning styles - Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to develop and implement comprehensive support plans for students with ASD - Assisting students with ASD in developing social, communication, and independent living skills through structured activities and targeted interventions - Monitoring student progress, documenting observations, and regularly communicating with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the continued effectiveness of support strategies - Participating in professional development opportunities and staying up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in supporting students with ASD - Maintaining a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment for students with ASD, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being - Providing support and guidance to the families of students with ASD, offering resources and strategies to promote their child's success To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills: - A relevant degree or diploma in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field, with a focus on working with students with ASD - A minimum of 2 years of practical experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role, specifically supporting students with ASD - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families - Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, enabling you to adapt support strategies as needed - Patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by students with ASD - Proficiency in using assistive technologies and educational software to support students with ASD - A commitment to continuing professional development and a willingness to stay informed of the latest research and best practices in the field If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with autism spectrum disorders and possess the necessary skills and experience, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding and fulfilling position.
