Job Description We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and compassionate nurse to join our Oxford team as a Trainee Clinical Nurse Specialist – Neuro-Oncology. This specialist developmental role is designed to support your progression into a CNS position, with a clear focus on caring for patients with primary or secondary brain and central nervous system (CNS) tumours. With structured guidance from an experienced nurse mentor and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will build the clinical, leadership, and specialist skills required to deliver high-quality, personalised care for this complex tumour group. Over the course of the 12-month development plan, you’ll be supported to work towards independently managing a patient caseload and contributing to the advancement of our Neuro-Oncology nursing service. What You’ll Do: Under supervision, act as a Key Worker for Neuro-Oncology patients, coordinating care and providing holistic support throughout their treatment journey. Work closely with consultants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care pathways. Support the delivery of evidence-based, person-centred care within a multidisciplinary environment. Gain exposure to nurse-led clinics, MDT participation, holistic needs assessments, and care planning. Contribute to the evaluation and development of standards of care and quality improvement initiatives in Neuro-Oncology services. What You’ll Have: Experience and Skills: Registered adult nurse Minimum 2 years post-registration experience, including at least 1 year in oncology, palliative care, or a related field Evidence of continued professional development Experience of multiprofessional working and delivering high-quality patient care Strong interpersonal and communication skills IT literate with sound clinical documentation skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team Qualifications and Knowledge: Degree in a related subject or currently working towards one Post-registration qualification in cancer, palliative care or relevant field, or willingness to work towards Teaching, assessing and Level 2 psychological skills training (desirable or willing to undertake) Working towards or prepared to work towards Master’s level study Other Requirements: Flexible and proactive approach to work Ability to manage emotionally complex situations with empathy and professionalism Willingness to travel between sites if required for training or support Why Choose GenesisCare: At GenesisCare, we’re passionate about delivering exceptional cancer care.
